Presentation May 20: Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis
Feliz Anne Macahis's work spans voice, instruments, and electronics, presented in concert music, performance, and installations. It often draws inspiration from both the materiality and immateriality of the voice. With the voice as an intrinsic part of her practice, she continues to explore its various roles beyond theatricality and its traditional function of conveying a message. Her approach to electronics emphasizes spatiality and communality, extending and complementing acoustic elements.

Feliz Anne Reyes Macahis is a Filipino composer living in Austria. As a PhD candidate at Kunstuniversität Graz, she researches Filipino epic song in the context of contemporary music, from both an academic and artistic perspective. Selected honours include ULYSSE's commissions from Ircam and the Royaumont Foundation, the Austrian Federal Scholarship for Composition, Aide à l'écriture d'une œuvre musicale originale from the Ministry of Culture/DRAC Îles-de-France, and commissions from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. In 2024-25 she was composer in residence at Künstlerhof Schreyahn. This year she was also selected as one of three composers for the Edition Zeitgenössische Musik (EZM) Portrait CD by Podium Gegenwart - Deutscher Musikrat.

Presentation 20 May: Zara Ali
Zara Ali creates immersive, multidimensional worlds for us to linger in together. Ali often draws inspiration from exploring human development at the intersection of technological advances and speculative visions of the future. While Alis music often uses programmatic elements, it refuses clear dramaturgical narratives and instead forms a basis for abstract and analytical fantasy forms.

Ali is based in Germany and the US, and currently resides in Weimar, Germany.
