Dennis Scheiba & Christof Ressi at Notam’s online SuperCollider Meetup on 21 October

Join us for a new online SuperCollider Meetup on 21 October 2026. This time, our host, Mike McCormick, will be joined by Dennis Scheiba and Christof Ressi!

The SuperCollider development team has been hard at work preparing the next release, and we can expect some significant and exciting changes in version 3.15. At the meetup in November, we’ll hear from Jordan Henderson, but this Wednesday Christof Ressi will be joining us to present the following:

  • New server-side features:
    • upsampling
    • reblocking
    • Strings/Symbols as UGen arguments
  • new plugin API functions
  • a unified plugin API for SCSynth and Supernova (= no need to build two different plugins)
  • plugin API extensions
  • future roadmap

In addition to this, we will also be joined by Dennis Scheiba, who will guide us through some of his compositions and approaches to his practice, which is based on live coding.

Dennis Scheiba lives in Cologne, Germany, where he studied mathematics and music and worked as a machine learning engineer and an artistic-scientific researcher; he is now Digital Lead for K3, an interdisciplinary network focusing on art and AI. His compositions have been performed at IRCAM, MIT, Johns Hopkins University, ZKM and the Ligeti Zentrum, and he also performs as a live coder.

Since 2021, he has been involved in the development of SuperCollider and co-managed the release of versions 3.14 and 3.15; he recently ported SuperCollider to the browser using WASM and created DynGen as a means of utilising JIT compilation for SuperCollider UGens.

«I have always been deeply interested in the creation, perception and organisation of sound. There are many interesting ways of doing this, but I have found that an algorithmic approach to sound offers a way of surprising me: I can apply ideas from different fields and see how I can translate them and perceive them unfolding in sound. Furthermore, I have found that working with code allows me to create systems in which sound and light can influence one another, and I have ever since been drawn to audio-visual compositions.»
