As part of our collaborative sound-based residency, we will be hosting Lorenzo Colocci as Artist in Residence here at Notam. Colocci will be in residence for two weeks in October and, on the 27th, he will be sharing some of the work he has been doing in a performance here at Notam.
L6xtwzf.Ɛ0 is an audiovisual performance based on digital feedback systems. Hours of visual material—comprising personal video, texture animation, bold experiments and various online sources—are controlled in real time through sound-driven processes, generating rapid, unpredictable transformations in response to audio energy. The resulting flow of fragmented images—drawn from a residual memory of each—unfolds in a continuous succession, triggering associative, almost unconscious connections that resonate deeply. Lorenzo Colocci is a musician, composer, visual artist and inventor; trained in classical flute, jazz composition and arrangement, he has worked across a wide range of styles and fields throughout his career, including improvisation, installation, electronic music and performance. His refusal to use standard, established tools and methods has led him to push boundaries by experimenting and seeking new, personal solutions in both practical and conceptual terms. He forges his own sonic path, refining his prototypes of the extended flute (Flaubosax) and the no-input flute to expand the sonic possibilities beyond the physical limits of the instrument, thereby exploring new musical possibilities.
