ATTENTION! Course dates coming August 2025. If you are interested in being notified when the dates are set, please contact us here

If you're curious about three-dimensional sound, Notam's introductory course may be the right place to start. Three-dimensional sound, or ambient sound as it's also known, is a new and exciting field with many opportunities for creative work with sound. With tools such as Reaper and Ambisonics plugins, you can easily get started with advanced work. Surround sound can seem complicated, and the idea behind this course is to teach participants simple and good ways to work with it.

The aim of the course is to provide a simple and basic overview of immersive sound, so that the participants can produce their own works after completing the course. The course will also make you qualified to work in Notam’s Studio 3. The course requires no prior knowledge, but some knowledge of audio software is an advantage.

The course will be led by composer and sound artist Mariam Gviniashvili. Mariam Gviniashvili (b.1989) is an Oslo-based composer, sound artist and video artist from Georgia. Her compositional focus revolves around the exploration of spatialisation in music. Mariam's artistic practice includes audiovisual works, exploring the relationship between three-dimensional sound and visual images. She collaborates with performers and composes music for dance and theatre.
