A virtual meetup for people interested in spatial audio.
At this meetup we share ideas, techniques, help and experiences in using different kinds of spatial audio technology to create art.
If you are interested in spatial audio, then plase do consider joining and if you do, consider sharing something (it is perfectly allowed to be a silent spectator if you do not feel like speaking).
What could that “something” you are supposed to share be ?
It could be one of the following:
* A question
* An idea
* A piece
* A work in progress
* Research
* A nice workflow trick for working with a particular piece of software
* Custom software projects for spatial audio of all kinds
* A recording or gear tip
Anything really, as long as it pertains to the subject of spatial audio.
The working language of the meetup is English and of it is free and open to anyone.

ABOUT THE HOSTS

MONICA BOLLES

Monica Bolles has been working with spatial audio since 2011 when she first gained access to her local planetarium’s 15.1 channel surround system. Since then she has been continuously building toolsets in Max MSP to create large textured soundscapes that explore space, movement, and interaction. Tapping into her roots in traditional audio engineering she works with composers and live performers to explore methods of translating their work to spatial environments while exploring the role the audio engineer plays as a performer and musician. As an artist, she has been focusing on building custom instruments that explore data sonification and use gestural control to create improvised spatial audio experiences. As a producer, she puts together teams to build large immersive works that bring together live performance, dance, 360-projections, spatial audio and other new technologies.

MARIAM GVINIASHVILI
Mariam Gviniashvili is an Oslo-based composer and sound artist originally from the country of Georgia. Her current focus is on multichannel electronics and investigating the role of spatiality in composition. Her artistic practice extends to audiovisual and interactive sound-art works, live improvisation as well as collaboration with performers.

Mariam completed Master’s studies in acoustic composition at Tbilisi State Conservatoire (TSC), one year of music production studies at Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) and one year of electroacoustic music composition at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest (LFZE) under Andrea Szigetvári. She acquired a second Master’s degree in Music Performance Technology and Electroacoustic Composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2020 under prof. Natasha Barrett.

Mariam has worked in residence in the studios of EMS (Stockholm, Sweden), EMPAC (New York, US) and The Cube, Virginia Tech (Virginia, US).
