Introduction to 3D Sound with Mariam Gviniashvili, November 2026

November 2026, we will be repeating the popular workshop An Introduction to 3D Audio with Mariam Gviniashvili here at Notam.

If you are curious about three-dimensional sound, Notam’s introductory course may be the right place to start. Three-dimensional Sound, or immersive sound as it is also called, is a new and exciting field, with many opportunities for creative work with sound. With tools such as Reaper and Ambisonics plugins you can easily get started with advanced work. Immersive sound can seem complicated, and the idea behind this course is to teach the participants simple and good ways to work with it.

The aim of the course is to provide a simple and basic overview of immersive sound, so that the participants can produce their own works after completing the course. The course will also make you qualified to work in Notam’s Studio 3. The course requires no prior knowledge, but some knowledge of audio software is an advantage.

The workshop will be led by composer and sound artist Mariam Gviniashvili. Mariam Gviniashvili (b.1989) is an Oslo-based composer, sound artist and video artist from Georgia. Her compositional focus revolves around the exploration of spatialisation in music. Mariam's artistic practice includes audiovisual works, exploring the relationship between three-dimensional sound and visual images. She collaborates with performers and composes music for dance and theatre.
