On The Edge 30/11

Improvising musicians on music and methods
The mini-festival On the Edge 2016 has “Improvisation in the studio” as a theme. This will be illuminated through concerts at the Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene and interviews, presentations and discussions at the Music Academy (Lindemanssalen). On the Edge is a collaboration between the Academy, the Arne Nordheim Centre and Victoria National Jazz Scene.
Notam hosts a pre-opening on 30. November at 3pm with Stian Westerhus who presents Amputation in our studio for surround sound. More sessions will be set up if necessary. There are only 9 seats available for this! You can risk it and just show up at Notam. You can also reserve a seat at this email:  ivar.grydeland@nmh.no
As much an installation as a concert experience, this electronic work, on Westerhus’ own custom studio system ever in the 25-channel studio Sirius, can give the keen listener an insight to the composer’s methods in studio.

On the Edge 2016’s program is curated over the theme «Improvisation in the studio» and a selection of Norwegian and foreign improvisers is presenting their works at concerts, interviews, presentations and discussions. To participate in the symposium, register here. Registration fee covers concert tickets at Victoria and food. The talks/discussions at the Music Academy and this session at Notam is free.
