Finally, it is time for the official opening of the brand new Notam!

Since the summer of 2023 we have been working on rebuilding Notam at its new location, and now we are very much looking forward to sharing the results. 

To celebrate the opening we are hosting two days (April 19th and 20th) filled with concerts, workshops, performances and more.

Technical position at the Norwegian centre for Technology, Arts and Music

About the position

The Norwegian center for Technology, Arts and Music (Notam) has a vacancy within sound engineering, operation of studios and technical assistance in artists’ creative work. The position has an emphasis on sound engineering, at the same time we are looking for people with additional skills in digital technology, electronics development, programming, video, mechanics etc. We are looking for you who want to develop Notam in the face of new technologies, the position can to some extent be adapted to your skills, and it is important that you like learning new things. It may also be relevant to teach in shorter courses and workshops. 

The position is a 100% permanent position.

Tasks and areas of responsibility:

As a technician at Notam, you are responsible for running the studios, Notam’s technical equipment, booking the studio and carrying out events. You will be given administrative tasks linked to your technical tasks. You will also work closely with artists on a project basis, this could be contributing with technical solutions in an installation or guiding in studio use. Your everyday life will include learning new technologies and creative problem solving, Notam works in a rapidly developing field, we are therefore looking for a colleague who acquires new knowledge continuously. You must expect that the workload will vary throughout the year and that the tasks will change.

Qualification requirements:

  • We want an employee with relevant education or experience from similar work.
  • Very good knowledge of computer technology.
  • You must be able to work in a structured manner with operations and administration regularly alongside projects and deadlines.
  • We work in an international environment and want you to be fluent in English. In this position you will also need to learn Norwegian. 
  • Driving license is desirable.

Personal characteristics:

As a sound technician with us, you will work closely with other employees and artists. We are therefore looking for you who have good communication and collaboration skills. Furthermore, we imagine that you are creative and solution-oriented. We also believe that you are efficient and reliable, and that you have the ability to work independently.

About the employer

The Norwegian centre for Technology, Art and Music is a private foundation that works in the professional art field. Notam conducts pblic events, research and development, education and help for creative work, with an emphasis on the latter.

Notam has 4.7 man-years and an ambitious place to operate. We are opening new premises in April, you will be helping to design the operation of these. We offer 700m2 of event space, workshop, studio for visual media, reading room, sound studio, sound studio for 3D sound, recording room and project room. In our premises we also have offices for subletting, we currently rent offices to five artists and artist organisations.
