Doppelgänger at NIME
Asbjørn Blokkum Flø will participate at the annual conference NIME (New Interfaces for Musical Expression) in June, with an article and demonstration of the installation Doppelgänger.
The title Doppelgänger refers to the idea of a persons double, a phenomenon that has a long tradition both in fiction and folklore. In this work, the unorganized, chaotic sound of the art museums café is transported into the more contemplative gallery space. Here the sound of the social space is presented in processed, analyzed form – as an abstract, timbral shadow version of the real world.
NIME 2015 will be held at the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA, may 31 – June 3, 2015. The article “Doppelgänger: A solenoid-based large scale sound installation”, written by Asbjørn Blokkum Flø and Hans Wilmers, will be published in the 2015 NIME Proceedings.
