Helene Hedsund to Sirius
Notam has evaluated all applications for our first Nordic Culture Point residency, and has chosen one project as this round?s scientifically and artistically most relevant and interesting.
We hope the applicants who didn?t get the chance this time, will keep interest and continue their applications for the later rounds. We will hold this residency for at least 5 more composers/artists, once every half-year with the next application deadline on the 31st of January.
Helene Hedsund is a Swedish composer and sound artist born 1963. She will reside in studio Sirius in April and June.
Helene has been working at EMS since 1994. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. Her project at Notam involves recording a choir and make a multichannel piece to be performed in the BEASTdome in Birmingham. She will, amongst other tools, make use of an instrument made by herself in SuperCollider.

This is part of a new three-year residency programme that have been made possible through funding from the Nordic Culture Point. The program runs until the summer of 2019. Composers and sound artists based in the Nordic and Baltic countries (except Norway) may apply. The residency will focus on multi-channel works for surround sound. We can provide 2 long-term stays per year (up to 2 months). Travel and accommodation costs will be covered, and we can offer a salary depending on length of stay (maximum NOK 20,000 for 2 months). In addition, we offer an office space, expanded access to our new 24-channel studio for surround and help from our technicians. Next application deadline is January 31. Apply here.
