Sono
Description
Sono makes sonograms in PostScript format. The resulting document is formatted as a kind of score that can be read by composers, students, musicologists and sound engineers, etc.
The figure above shows a screenshot of the computer music piece Nudes 1.1 by Lars Petter Hagen, produced at NOTAM.
How is the program useful?
A sonogram is a spectral representation of an audio signal, where time is represented along the x-axis, frequency along the y-axis, and energy is shown as a grayscale. The sonogram is an ideal notation form for electroacoustic music, where one can easily see how different sound images are positioned in time.
